The World Cup Is in Miami — and It’s Changing Who’s Buying in Doral
July 6, 2026The 2026 FIFA World Cup is underway, and Miami is one of its host cities. For a few weeks, the eyes of the world — and hundreds of thousands of international visitors — are on South Florida. As someone who has spent 15 years selling real estate in Doral, I can tell you what that means beyond the matches: a wave of international attention that historically converts into real estate interest long after the final whistle.
Why Doral specifically benefits
Doral has always been one of Miami-Dade’s most international cities. A large share of our residents were born abroad, and the city has deep ties to Latin American business communities. When international visitors come to Miami for an event like this, many of them are seeing — some for the first time — a city where they could genuinely live, invest, or base a business. And when they start looking at where in Miami-Dade to buy, Doral checks the boxes that matter to international buyers: proximity to Miami International Airport, a strong business ecosystem, newer construction, gated communities, and excellent schools.
What history tells us
Major global events tend to leave a real estate footprint. Host cities typically see a surge in searches from abroad during and after the event, and a portion of those searches become inquiries, then visits, then purchases. The buyers I work with from Latin America and Europe often begin with a trip like this one — they visit for an event, fall in love with the area, and start asking what a condo here actually costs.
What this means if you’re selling
If you own property in Doral, this is an unusually good moment for your listing to be seen by an international audience. Listings with strong photography and video travel well — they get shared, saved, and forwarded across borders. If you’ve been on the fence about listing, the second half of 2026 has a tailwind most years don’t.
What this means if you’re buying
Increased international attention can mean more competition for well-priced properties, particularly condos and townhomes in the price ranges international buyers favor. If you’re a local buyer, getting pre-approved and ready to move quickly matters more in a market with global eyes on it.
I live in Downtown Doral and work with international and out-of-state buyers every week. If you’re visiting for the tournament and wondering what it would take to own here — or you’re a local owner wondering what your property is worth right now — [reach out] and I’ll give you a straight answer.
